As a result of an admission process launched in May, the Luxembourg Esports Federation (LESF) has been accepted as a new member of the International Esports Federation (IESF), thus joining the international esports movement. This is the first step towards the official recognition of esports in Luxembourg. „We are very proud to be part of this adventure and are looking forward to an exciting future within the IESF. Together with the other 81 member nations, the LESF is ready to tackle the upcoming common challenges in esports,“ says Joe Hoffmann, President of the LESF.

For the LESF, this important membership entails that the national federation will henceforth participate in the official IESF tournaments and organize national selections to choose the athletes representing Luxembourg in the upcoming world championship.

The 12th Esports World Championships, held in Eilat (Israel) from 6 to 12 December and featuring PES, Tekken7 and Dota2, will be the first competition in which Luxembourg participates. In this framework, the LESF will organize national online qualifiers from 25 to 27 September to select the best Luxembourgish athletes in the regional online qualifiers held in October.

The registration period for the national qualifier will be between 14 to 21 September.

More details will be shared via the social media channels of the Luxembourg Esports Federation in the upcoming days.
